The northern end of Marion Bay is Cape Bernier (locally known as Hellfire Bluff) and is named after Pierre Francoise Bernier, an astronomer with the Baudin expedition. Cape Bernier Vineyard takes its name from this landmark and in doing so honours those brave explorers who came before us in pursuit of scientific discovery, new lands and ultimately a new way of life.

Winemaker, Julian Alcorso is a finalist in Australia's 2009 winemaker's of the year and his colleagues at Winemaking Tasmania Pty Ltd have produced wines of the highest quality, clear varietal expression together with the unique characters of the terroir of this unique site. Read more here

This elegant, crisp wine has a complex bouquet and palate of citrus/grapefruit, white peach and honey characters. The French oak provides a subtle complexity to the fruit and its high natural acid and crisp fruit integrated with soft oak tannins match it perfectly with seafood, including salmon and tuna.

This wine is made in the traditional Alsace style using Pinot Gris grown in a very cool maritime coastal site. At vintage the fruit presents high acids with very intense flavours which focus on the apple and pear characters of this variety, but extend from the citrus to honey ends of the flavour spectrum.
