LERIDA ESTATE
Canberra District (View map)

The Lerida Estate is the vision of owners, Jim Lumbers and Anne Caine. Their vineyard produce world class wines predominantly Pinot Noir reflecting the Lake George ‘terroir’ in the Canberra District and are now recognised as being among the most stylish not only in the Canberra District but in Australia. They were also awarded 5-stars in 2010 in the 2011 edition of the Halliday Wine Companion

In addition to the Halliday 5-star rating, Lerida Estate has received hundreds of medals for their wines including 50 Gold, Silver and Bronze medals across their range of wines in 2010 wine show season. Wines that performed particularly well at the shows included their Shiraz Viognier, wooded Chardonnay, Merlot Cabernet Franc and their range of Pinot Noirs.

Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Master of Wine and Robert Parker’s (The Wine Advocate) Asia/Pacific representative based in Singapore stated in The Wine Advocate: “If you've never tried wines from the Canberra District ... in the southern part of NSW around the city of Canberra, you are truly missing out on some of the most exciting new wines coming out of Australia today.”

A classic cool climate Shiraz from the hills surrounding Canberra, which offers cool brambleberry and spice aromas with a surprisingly generous palate. The flavours are complex and refined, berries and a little pepper, with a long, fine tannin finish.

This is a delightfully sweet wine showing the same nutty, dried apricot, raisin, spice, apple and marmalade
aromas as previous vintages of this wine. The palate is warm and unctuous. The wine is balanced by a long acid finish. This is a gorgeous wine!

This wine was selected for a more fruit driven style of Pinot Noir with 20% new wood giving a softer finish. The aromas are of red cherry, mulberry, gamey and savory with a slight overtone of vanilla. The palate is soft and rich backed by silky, textured tannins on a long finish. Drink now but will benefit from 2-3 years cellaring.

This wine is made from Pinot Noir grapes sourced from our vineyard at Lake George. The wine was matured in French oak barriques for 11 months prior to bottling and shows cherry, red current, allspice, vanilla and gamey aromas. The red fruit on the palate is supported by savoury overtones and fine, well integrated tannins.

The colour is crystalline pink like a pale Argyle diamond. The nose is classic Lerida Estate Pinot Noir red fruit, but with an intriguing floral overlay. Imagine a mixed punnet of red cherries and wild raspberries in a basket of roses and violets - all picked just after dawn. The same spectrum of flavours appears on the palate, wound tightly into a ball of natural fruit acids. The finish is clean, fresh and very dry.

Made from Pinot Gris grapes grown at four vineyards in the Canberra District (including Lerida Estate). On the nose, it shows honeysuckle, violets, apple, pear and citrus aromas and the palate is rich and flavoursome.
