MORNING SUN VINEYARD Mornington Peninsula
Nestled in the picturesque, rolling hills of Main Ridge located in the Mornington Peninsula’s hinterland region, Morning Sun’s vineyards look east over a small valley towards the morning sun.
What began as a retirement hobby for owner Mario Toniolo at the age of 70, has evolved into a complete Peninsula experience, encompassing two vineyards, onsite winery, olive grove, bed and breakfast accommodation, art gallery, cellar door and restaurant. Now aged 86, Mario can still be found at Morning Sun Vineyard every day, tending his impressive vegetable gardens and enjoying the stunning Tuscan style environment he has created.
With a total of 13.5 acres under vine, this boutique vineyard produces award winning Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio with small plantings of Gwertztraminer (a favourite of Claudia Mario’s wife), Semillon, Riesling and Barbera. In early 2011, the decision was made to pursue organic certification
The motto of Morning Sun is an Italian saying “Beri e Canta’ which translates to eat, drink and be merry. This is reflected in Morning Sun becoming renowned for offering great food and wines in a beautiful, relaxed, intimate setting.

A classic cool climate chardonnay nose of citrus, tropical notes and nectarine. The soft, creamy palate has a long and strong mineral spine. The flavours continue to build while the wine is in the mouth and long after.

The house style with perfume of wild berries growing in the forest is what catches your attention. The palate then adds bright red cherries and some more savoury morello cherries.
